triple bath is restless

here is yet another fresh edition on the label, this time the debut of the athens-based project ‘Kerkville’. A one-man show -as it usually happens these days- this one’s the child of one Mihalis Moshoutis, guitar, lap & pedal steel player. Mihalis starts from the raw melodies of the instruments and then manipulates and layers their music through electronics. The result is as expected processed-based, though expressive enough, plus it doesnt shy away from some louder -but still contained- bursts

mr. Danielak hails from Poland and deals in otherworldly psychedic abstractions, while 4 + 1 are an Athens-based instrumental outfit (that features more than 4 + 1 musicians in this case, i’m confused).

themis has much more extensive descriptions of these in the label page, as well as mp3 previews of the whole discs. so follow up the links and see what curious things he’s been pimping during the past months

working on its members’ compositions, the ensemble aims at creating free forms which remain open and flexible in time and in density of music developments. The compositions of the ensemble are formative rather than melodic or harmonic. Sentimental expression is replaced by psychological variations through alternation of urban and natural music landscapes.

follow-up to the well-received self-titled debut album released by indie-folk-instrumental act Burgundy Grapes early in 2005 on Outlandish Recordings. it documents core duo George Kolyvas and Alexandros Miaoulis with accordionist Yiorgos Tsiatsoulis, a regular collaborator, working mostly live, applying predominantly acoustic sounds, and arranging the material in a sparser-than-usual fashion
