Sister Overdrive ονομάζεται το προσωπικό πρότζεκτ του μουσικού και sound artist Γιάννη Κοτσώνη. Ενσωματώνοντας ακουστικές και ηλεκτρονικές πηγές, field recordings καθώς και αυτοσχεδιαστικά στοιχεία έχει στο ενεργητικό του τέσσερις σόλο δισκογραφικές κυκλοφορίες (Manichope Sessions [Post Digital, 2005], Αnnick / Philomela [Low Impedance, 2009], Retroversion [Memoryformat, 2010], Honey [Organised Music From Thessaloniki, 2011] και κομμάτια του έχουν επίσης συμπεριληφθεί στις συλλογές post-digital compilation v1 και 223.05.09. Έχει συνθέσει μουσική για θέατρο, video dance, multimedia installations και κινηματογράφο σε συνεργασία με ένα ευρύ φάσμα καλλιτεχνών όπως οι Θέμελης Γλυνάτσης, Ρούλα Πατεράκη, Αλέξανδρος Μιστριώτης, Γιάννης Γαϊτανίδης, Τάσος Λάγγης, κ.α. Συνεργάζεται επίσης με τον Kωστή Κηλύμη μέσα από το πρότζεκτ Syndromes Sister Overdrive, και αυτοσχεδιάζει συχνά με ηλεκτρονικούς και ακουστικούς μουσικούς.

Είναι συνιδρυτής και υπεύθυνος μουσικού προγράμματος της Knot Gallery, και μαζί με τη Δανάη Στεφάνου, μέλος του αυτοσχεδιαστικού ντούο Acte Vide, και συνδιοργανωτής του εβδομαδιαίου εργαστηρίου ελεύθερου αυτοσχεδιασμού της Knot.

electronics musician Giannis Kotsonis presents an electroacoustic/noise suite under his ‘Sister Overdrive’ alias, while zither player Dimitra Lazaridou-Chatzigoga “graduates” from her duo with Ferran Fages, ‘ap’strophe’, to give us her uncompromising solo debut in the form of ‘Stroke by Stroke’.

digging deeper, Sister Overdrive’s ‘Honey’ is made out of electroacoustic and concrete sources, thickly processed through Kotsonis’ laptop to produce and unfold a most engaging sequence of events. On ‘Honey’, his work thrives on harsh textures and elemental qualities of sound, offering in the process a most immersive and rich abstract work.

‘Stroke by Stroke’ is not for the faint of heart either. Those expecting gentle plucking to emerge from her zither will be surprised, to say the least. Chatzigoga uses objects, preparations, e-bows and other tools to extract large and confronting soundscapes from her instrument, and here she lays down, track by track, different combinations of techniques, contrasted with each other in the context of the album while at the same time laying them against the ambient sounds of the city -which she sublty allows to slip through to the recording. What results is a poetic and suggestive work that serves as the best introduction yet to Chatzigoga’s soundworld.

black to comm είναι το προσωπικό όχημα του marc richter (ιδιοκτήτη της  εταιρείας dekorder) ο οποίος παντρεύει τους ήχους απο παλιά σύνθ, συμβατικά όργανα, tapes, εφέ και πειραγμένα βινύλια. Δημιουργώντας μια σκοτεινή electronica -άλλοτε γύρω από επιβλητικούς ambient ήχους και άλλες φορές με σύντομες εκφραστικές μινιατούρες- μας οδηγεί στα πλέον υπνωτικά μουσικά μονοπάτια.

black to comm is the personal project of marc richter (label owner of the dekorder imprint), in which he brings together the sounds of old-fashioned synthesizers, conventional instruments, tapes, effects, manipulated vinyl and so on, in creating dark electronica sounds and imposing ambiences. Either through epic drone-y tracks or in brief song-like miniatures, he carries the listener to some uniquely hypnotic musical paths.
