Το Σάββατο 2 Ιουνίου και ώρα 20:30 στην Knot Gallery (Mιχαλακοπούλου 206 & Πύρρου, Αμπελόκηποι) θα προβληθεί η μικρού μήκους ταινία Πόες. Ακολουθεί live από τους: Άγγελο κυρίου, Dozen Draft, Ntlisten, Master Heatwave, Sad Mask Party και Valletta Str. Project, που συμμετείχαν στο soundtrack. Θα είναι διαθέσιμα 40 cd με τη μουσική της ταινίας.
Υπόθεση της ταινίας:
Πέντε νέοι άνθρωποι αναγνωρίζουν τον εαυτό τους ως το μοναδικό περιεχόμενο της νόησης τους, νοιώθοντας ότι η μοναδικότητα της ύπαρξης τους απειλείται από τον εξωτερικό κόσμο. Τον οικειοποιούνται παραδιδόμενοι στις εμμονές τους.

H Phase! γιορτάζει δέκα χρόνια συνεχούς παρουσίας στον (υπο)χώρο και σχεδόν 100 κυκλοφορίες με μια σειρά από πάρτι, το πρώτο εκ των οποίων θα πραγματοποιηθεί στον χώρο της KNOT με πολλούς εκλεκτούς καλεσμένους και DJs, κάβα με φθηνά ποτά και appetite for destruction από:
- το bedroom/psych ξύσιμο των 1000 Beautiful Women,
- το νωχελικό κι σπασμωδικό κάψιμο των Wham Jah,
- την ακραία και φρέσκια synth punk ουραγκοταγκίλα των Gay Anniversary,
- την αφοπλιστική κι ανεπιτήδευτη κατάθεση ψυχής του Άγγελου κυρίου μέχρι
- το σκοτεινό slacker lo-fi trip hop των Angels in America από την Βαλτιμόρη.
H Phase! ξεκίνησε αρχικά σαν φανζίν και ανεξάρτητη δισκογραφική εταιρεία από τον Παναγιώτη Σπούλο το 2002 με περιορισμένες χειροποίητες εκδόσεις σε CDR και κασέτα. Κι αν τα πρώτα νούμερα αποτελούσαν καταγραφή μια συγκεκριμμένης αθηναϊκης σκηνής δίχως αύριο (Κοψωκέφαλοι, Sweetohm, Postblue), το ρόστερ πολύ γρήγορα άρχισε να επεκτείνεται και σε καλλιτέχνες του εξωτερικού (Donna Parker, Robert Piotrowicz, Lamps, Cakes of Light, Gang Wizard, Slicing Grandpa, Arklight, Placenta Popeye, Fossils, Vluba, Howlin’ Ghost Proletarians, Big Blood, κ.α.) με ταυτόχρονο βομβαρδισμό κυκλοφοριών από signature projects της ελληνικής πειραματικής σκηνής (Nokalypse, Reverse Mouth, Lunar Miasma, Putsum, Nightshift, Betty Loop Loop, κ.α.). Στόχος της είναι να συνεχίσει να κυκλοφορεί περίπου 10 κυκλοφορίες τον χρόνο –κάποιες από αυτές σε βινύλιο– διατηρώντας πάντα έναν DIY νοσταλγικό χαρακτήρα που αναδεικνύει μοναδικά την φρεσκάδα των ηχογραφημάτων.

ok, here’s a monster of release somewhat. Double cassette release between a duo project and the two people it sprang from. Which means one cassette features Betty Loop Loop, while the other is itself a split release between Angelos kyriou (Άγγελος κυρίου) and Buildings at Night (Κτίρια τη Νύχτα) -the two people who are behind Betty Loop Loop anyway…
Panos of phase! describes this as THE 10′s athens artefact and he has a point there, both Angelos and the Buildings come from a singer-songwriter perspective, but have managed to lodge themselves pretty well into the consciense and the “now” of the experimental community and the forward-thinking pop audience in athens alike (and the rest of greece to some extent). Angelos is a familiar face in these pages as well, owing to his 7″ on organized music a few months back.

The split solo tape features the usual marathon of erratic pop and living-for-the-moment miniatures from Angelos and a pretty eye-opening stray-sound-collage/fuzzfest from Buildings at Night on the other. Both sides very short, both very tasty. And then the Betty tape, 36 minutes of live “highlights” for your summer haze pleasure. THE release for this summer.

Hana is a techno project with some members of the granny records collective behind it. Syndromes is a electroacoustic/noise project by the man behind the organized music from thessaloniki label. Angelos kyriou is an urban singer-songwriter with a twist. They’ll both be at the same place this Saturday, 18/6; in the back yard of the Xanthi Folk Museum in the old city of Xanthi. 21:00. 5eu.

Από τις 17 Μαΐου και για δυο εβδομάδες, το ελculture θα φιλοξενεί στην είσοδο του νεοκλασικού κτιρίου του, επιλεγμένα έργα της εικαστικού Γρηγορίας Βρυττιά.
- Στο ισόγειο της Μιλτιάδου. Από 17 μέχρι 31 Μαΐου, 17:00-22:00
Παράλληλα, στον πρώτο όροφο και για τις τρείς πρώτες ημέρες, ο Κωστής Κηλύμης θα παρουσιάσει την ηχητική περφόρμανς με τίτλο: Perspectives [Athens].
- Στον πρώτο όροφο της Μιλτιάδου. 17,18 και 19 Μαΐου, 17:00-21:00
Στην ταράτσα του ελculture, oι Άγγελος κυρίου και κτίρια τη νύχτα -κατά κόσμον Betty Loop Loop- θα εμφανιστούν την Τρίτη 17 Μαΐου για τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης, ενώ το τριήμερο θα κλείσει με την συναυλία των Egsun και των πρωτοεμφανιζόμενων Mother Tree.

there is a new release out on organized music from thessaloniki, though it’s a little bit different than what you’d initially expect.
this one comes in vinyl first of all, a gorgeous little 7″ ep with 9 songs. Now i said songs, and usually you’d expect long stretches of electroacoustics from this label, but on this release the focus is on a brilliant greek songwriter, Angelos kyriou. Well known in the small-scale-gig circle of athens for the past few years (as well as through his blog, from where he usually shares his music) for his idiosyncratic short tunes, quirky lyrics, and unique in-your-face effect of what he does, he has nevertheless refused to play himself up and emerge as some sort of faux-underground indie-king and it’s only now that his music begins to appear on ‘traditional’ fixed media, though we’ve had him in our mp3 players for some time now. Having had his music and his uncanny observations wash through our daily lives for some time now, we’ve decided to share some of it with you. It’s a personal trip, but few remain unmoved.
