nicolas lays exposed in the intransitive online magazine, in the latest installment of Howard Stelzer’s “put me on the guest list’ column, in which Howard interviews people around the world about their work they put in setting up concerts, mobilizing scenes, etc. Of course, this being nicolas, the conversation goes further and in myriad directions. And this being the internet, I myself am again renamed (twice) in the process. All good clean fun. Start following the Intransitive mag, if you don’t do so already, it’s a treasure-trove. Even has a Lasse Marhaug film column!

Χρυσαλλίδα είναι ένα όνομα κάτω από την εποπτεία του οποίου διοργανώνονται στην πόλη της Ξάνθης μια σειρά από μουσικές κυρίως διοργανώσεις -με άξονα την πειραμματική μουσική, αλλά και με διάφορα άλλα παρακλάδια. Μέχρι σήμερα έχουν πραγματοποιηθεί πάνω από 60 εκδηλώσεις που περιλαμβάνουν συναυλίες, εγκαταστάσεις, εκθέσεις, ομιλίες, παραστάσεις, περφόρμανς και dj parties, ενώ έχουν φιλοξενηθεί στην πόλη γι’ αυτό το σκοπό, πάνω από 120 καλλιτέχνες από την Ελλάδα αλλά και από το εξωτερικό.

Το ίδιο το όνομα της Χρυσαλλίδας δεν έβγαινε μέχρι τώρα πάντοτε στην επιφάνεια, πολλές αφίσες και ανακοινώσεις μέχρι και σήμερα αναφέρουν απλά ως διοργανωτές δύο μη κερδοσκοπικούς οργανισμούς της πόλης, την Φιλοπρόοδη Ένωση Ξάνθης (ΦΕΞ) και το Πολιτιστικό Αναπτυξιακό Κέντρο Θράκης (ΠΑΚΕΘΡΑ), που είναι και βασικοί συντελεστές αυτής της προσπάθειας. Πλέον γίνεται μια προσπάθεια καταγραφής του έργου αυτής της πρωτοβουλίας, στον χώρο του ομώνυμου δικτυακού τόπου.

Το σάιτ εγκαινιάστηκε τον προηγούμενο μήνα και ήδη διαθέτει έναν ικανό όγκο υλικού από το αρχείο των εκδηλώσεων.

Πρόσκληση συμμετοχής

…για νέους δημιουργούς, designers, φοιτητές και αποφοίτους σχολής καλών τεχνών ή εφαρμοσμένων τεχνών, γραφίστες, αρχιτέκτονες, animators, φωτογράφους, συνθέτες ακουστικής μουσικής, κτλ.

Ο ήχος  ως  δομικό στοιχείο της σύνθεσης της μουσικής χρησιμοποιείται ευρέως από τους σύγχρονους καλλιτέχνες σε εγκαταστάσεις και κατασκευές ενίοτε συνοδεύοντας δισδιάστατες αποτυπώσεις (ζωγραφική, φωτογραφία, κολάζ), σε performances, στη video art, ή αποτελώντας πηγή έμπνευσης για τη δημιουργία εικόνας και αντικειμένου.

Το reworks 2011 επιχειρεί φέτος τη δημιουργία μιας καλλιτεχνικής πλατφόρμας ανάδειξης νέων καλλιτεχνών, εισάγοντας στο πρόγραμμά του μια έκθεση σύγχρονων έργων τέχνης και ηχητικών εγκαταστάσεων που είτε ενσωματώνουν τον ήχο ως συστατικό του έργου, είτε αναδεικνύουν την ακουστική εμπειρία μέσω αναφορών και συμβόλων κάνοντας χρήση όλων των διαθέσιμων μέσων.
Σκοπός του reworks 2011 είναι να συνδυάσει την προβολή της σύγχρονης ηλεκτρονικής σκηνής με τη σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία της πόλης και όχι μόνο.

Το εικαστικό τμήμα του reworks 2011 προσκαλεί νέους δημιουργούς να στείλουν  μέχρι την 1/8/2011, τις προτάσεις τους για συμμετοχή στην έκθεση, με έργα που αναδεικνύουν τη σχέση του ήχου και κατά προτίμηση του ηλεκτρονικού με σύγχρονες καλλιτεχνικές πρακτικές και διαδραστικά μέσα.

γάμος και το αρνητικό, στιγμιότυπα από την εικαστική δράση που παρουσίασαν ο Σωκράτης Μαρτίνης και η Ηλέκτρα Παπαθανασοπούλου στο πλαίσιο του bye bye butterfly (Ξάνθη 4 Δεκεμβρίου 2010, στο Σπίτι Πολιτισμού της ΦΕΞ).
Πρώτα σε βίντεο ο ορίζοντας ορίζεται από δυο ανοικτά γυναικεία πόδια. Ο Σ.Μ. σχεδιάζει το περίγραμμα των ποδιών της Η.Π. ώστε μετά να πετύχει να δώσει την προβολή του αιδοίου της με διαβήτη.

ilan manouach writes to let us know that he is participating with drawings from his new book, LIMBO, in the GENERATION SPONTANÉE exhibition (28-31/1/11) in the Angouleme festival.

The exhibition gathers work from young artists and graphic novel designers from the belgian scene, centering on the 5C, FRMK and EMPLOYE DU MOI editions, and can be accessed during the dates when the festival is ongoing. In june it will travel to paris.

yep, title’s taken from pauline oliveros’s same titled track and couldn’t find better for the final absurd release.
so below’s some info on the upcoming final absurd thing full schedule / details are to follow later but announce the first details of the absurd #84 scrapbook in case anyone’s interested in crashin’ in xanthi on december the 4th.

the idea is as follows, a final release or at least an effort for a final release but as i’ve never had a straight online release (perhaps the thu 20 piece might be an exception or an ‘odyssey’ depending on the angle you see it) thought as a nice idea to set up a mini fest to say goodbye to fellow coneptualists and end absurd there and at the same time this mini fest to be an a release in process. that simple.

so as i don’t wanna beat about the bush as mentioned earlier on saturday the 4th at the ‘spiti politismou’ of f.e.x. in xanthi this ‘release’ / adieau absurd mini fest will take place.
further schedule details are to follow as 90% a date in thessaloniki on friday the 3rd is also possible to take place if the pals up there find a place to set it up.

the line-up so far includes:

- blood stereo (including ellka reign nyoukis?)
