fun with nuns – what can spur us on
wax records 001

straight from the fat belly of thessaloniki, comes the freejazz/freakout collective of fun with nuns (who we first encountered here). Now comes their first full album, self-produced from top to bottom, and marketed by wax records, the record shop run by two of the guys involved in the unit. For a band (if ever they were a band) with such vast interests and an ever-changing sound, it is a good thing that this release shows us the phase they are into right now, heavy saxophone and trumpet use, free jazzy near the boiling point of a freak out, but also with the piano heavily involved into bringing some shape into the proceedings.

all this might sound fun to some, but wait till you catch them live around your town somewhere, rumour has it they’ll be out and about in early 2011, if only for a handful of dates
