ven voisey news

the snow’s piling up mighty deep,  i currently have a blanket wrapped around my shoulders,  and a friend of mine was just telling me we’re only 1/3 through the winter!  ack!

but it’s not a bad time to be in the studio.here’s what i’m up to:

collections of sounds, songs & moments (tin cans, wind, birds, machines, voice).
spliced tape and fleshy tangles
sing-song coin-operated nursery rhymes from pressed-tin automata,
yeah yeah yeah
(hope hope hope)
it’s a project i’m calling ‘cabinets’

it’s kinda like a band, kinda like just me doing what i do with sound, except now i’m singing songs too. more info/links/yadda yadda here: cabinetsmaker.com

During the month of february 2009, i’ll be writing and recording a new collection
of sounds and songs, wrangling in a few friends of mine along the way.
Several thousand of other folks will be going through a similar effort this coming month
for the RPM challenge. ( http://www.rpmchallenge.org ).  Underlying theme seems to be this: just make something dammit!

I’ll also be journaling, photographing, taking notes and posting everything throughout the month.  if you’re interested in following along, you can do so here:
http://cabinetsmaker.com/february the blog section is oddly kinda subtle, scroll down on the page and look for the link.

sounds & songs from -another- upcoming cabinets release, “wilderness” (something, in contrast, i’ve been working on for *way* too long) can be listened to here: http://www.myspace.com/cabinetsmaker

okay, that’s more than enough web linkage for now.
be well, and may the frozen month of february be a productive one!
make something!
